I've been collecting since 1992 when he released "7" as a single. I won't bore you with my love of his music, but I want to share some pics I have of him. Eventually I will re-publish some stories I created based on his music as well as my entire CD/CS/VHS/LP collections!
I would also like to bring a couple issues up front for the fans and non-fans alike. First of all, recently I was asked by a good friend of mine, "What has he given us lately?" Meaning, "What hits has he released lately as compared to the multitude of hits he released in the 80's?" I said that EMANCIPATION, the third released he had in 1996 went double-platinum. But that isn't the right answer. This is: has given us music, a collection of colors from his soul, to the public. It's about the freedom to express whatever he chooses to express and have the freedom to fail or succeed in the public's eye without the pressures of a major record label behind him. The only one he needs to please now is himself. He released a total of 3 albums (5 CDs) in 1996, and 4 albums (6 CDs) in 1998. How many artists do you know put out 7 albums in less than 3 years? He is one of the most prolific artists of the late 20th century, yet his true genius and creativity will probably not be noticed by the public until after he dies. He has one of the largest followings in the world next to the likes of The Grateful Dead and Elvis.
Earlier this year, 's lawyers have released some letters to 's fans'
web sites based on . These letters were not very nice.
Essentially, what the letters stated was that there should be no opinionated information
or rumours about . Also, any and all information on bootlegs, and
the selling or owning of bootlegs on the internet should be handed over to Paisley Park
Enterprises or risk being brought to court.
I am posting my Dare to lawyers: I dare you to send me a similar letter ordering me to relinquish complete freedom of speech and opinion. In order for to be free, must I be enslaved?
